Men's bracelet as a gift: the guide to getting it right

Give a men's bracelet without knowing his size, taste and style? It's possible. A practical guide with every tip you need to choose well.

A bracelet is a very personal gift, and precisely for this reason one of the most difficult. Or at least, so it seems. Giving the perfect bracelet isn't a matter of luck: it's a matter of method.
This guide answers the questions you have before buying. It settles the technical doubts (size, material, style). It leaves nothing to chance.

The first question: does he already wear one or not?

Everything starts here. If he already wears bracelets, the choice is simple: add something that completes, not replaces. If he has never worn jewelry, choose something discreet that can be worn every day. Something too flashy risks being hard to manage for someone not used to wearing jewelry.

How to choose the material

Titanium

If you're after everyday durability, titanium is the answer. Lightweight (4.5 g/cm³ versus 8.9 for steel). It doesn't weigh on the wrist. Choosing titanium is a safe bet, since being naturally hypoallergenic you don't need to worry about allergies or reactions. No maintenance required.

Red gold

If you want something more precious, the natural choice is 9kt or 18kt red gold (9kt is harder and sturdier, 18kt is purer and brighter).

Steel

Rarer among MANO|J bracelets, but if you choose steel, know it's practical and affordable. Also know that it weighs more than titanium and requires more maintenance (possible oxidation).

How to work out his size without measuring his wrist

If you don't know his wrist measurement, here are three methods you can use to find out:

  • The string method. Take a soft string (twine, embroidery thread, anything non-elastic). Wrap it around the wrist of the person who will receive the bracelet, where he would normally wear it. Remove the string and measure it with a ruler. Add 1 cm. That's the right circumference.
  • Look at his bracelets. If he already wears one, you can try measuring it. Add 5mm if you want a more comfortable fit.
  • Ask casually, try something like: «a friend of mine asked me how to measure a wrist to buy a  bracelet, and I have no idea. Do you know how it's done?». Often the person will measure their own wrist to answer you.

Bracelet sizes range from 16-17 cm (very small wrist) to 20-21 cm (large wrist). The average is 18-19 cm.

Which style to choose

Rigid

A rigid bracelet has no clasp. It adds an element of strong character. It works for someone who already wears jewelry and has standard proportions.

Link chain

Chain, groumette... It closes with a clasp. It's versatile: you can adjust the length. Perfect for a first bracelet.

If you want to learn more about groumette jewelry, we invite you to visit the dedicated page.

Cord

Slim, elegant, almost minimalist. It works for anyone who loves discreet jewelry.

Bar

A horizontal line across the wrist. Bold, geometric, modern.

How much to spend

MANO|J titanium bracelets start from 89 euros. In red gold they go up to 280-400 euros. Models with diamonds and gold naturally cost more. An engraving, if added, raises the price, but it should be noted that since everything is handcrafted, what you're paying for is top-tier craftsmanship.

The packaging is part of the gift

When you receive a MANO|J bracelet, you open a premium package where the box carries a wax seal in  place. It's the final handcrafted touch that seals in, and conveys, the care we put into every single detail.

If you'd like to add a personalized message, you have 3-4 lines available. The note will be included in the package along with everything else.

Our exchange/return policy

If the bracelet isn't right for any reason, you can exchange or return it within 14 days. If you ordered the wrong size, just let us know and the exchange is free (you only pay for return shipping if you're outside Italy). If you'd like to change model, that's equally possible.

FAQ

Q: Are MANO|J bracelets adjustable?

A: Link models are, within reasonable limits (roughly ±1 cm). Rigid ones aren't, but they can be widened by a skilled goldsmith.

Q: Can I have a name engraved inside the bracelet?

A: Yes, if it's a red gold bracelet. Engraving on titanium is more difficult. Contact MANO|J before ordering.

Q: How long do titanium bracelets last?

A: A lifetime, titanium doesn't age. With daily use it may pick up scratches, but a scratch is part of the object's story, not damage.

Q: Can I wear it in water? At the beach? In the pool?

A: Titanium, yes, no problem. Red gold, yes, but rinse it in fresh water afterward (pool chlorine or sea salt can corrode it).
